Diep.io Recreation

Diep.io is an online game that I was very obsessed with for a period of time. So much so, that I wanted to try and remake some of the basic mechanics of the game myself in an IDE called Processing

In the actual game, you control a 'tank' (a central circle with some rectangular 'cannons' protruding out). You can shoot little circular bullets at randomly generated shapes to gain levels and allow yourself to upgrade your tank. There are different game modes you can play in, but the general theme is killing other players that are on a different team than you (or just anyone else if you're playing free for all). The only mechanics I implemented was the basic tank, movement, random shapes, and being able to shoot them. I was more concerned with getting it to look similar to the real game, and I'd say I did fairly well.

The screen recording seems to have made the game run a little slower than usual, so it looks a bit 'laggy'.

Here's a screenshot of the actual game.

Here's the Processing file, in case you wanted to try it for yourself.

I can't upload a .pde file, so you'll have to copy-paste this into an empty sketch.
